Day 1

Moshi/Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, depart from Arusha, embark on an exciting journey to Tarangire National Park, and enjoy a game drive in the afternoon. Tarangire is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, lions, and various bird species. Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and spend the night at the Lodge.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park – Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park. Everything you’ll see here is on a different scale. It is compact (one of the narrowest parks in Africa) and epic (the Great Rift Escarpment towers over Lake Manyara’s western boundary). The park’s namesake is a shallow, Salt Lake. It covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons and is home to thousands of wading birds (including flamingos and over 500 other bird species). You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s thick evergreen forest, and watch for the tree-climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa.

Day 3

Manyara National Park to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will drive up into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a chance to stop and see the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. You will then transit through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the Serengeti, entering Central Serengeti Park.

The Serengeti is truly spectacular. It is famous for its vast open grasslands which allow for excellent sightings of wildlife. Whilst it boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for the annual Great Migration. Vast numbers of wildebeest; zebra and antelope move in an annual pattern, constantly seeking fresh grazing. The migration can be found during any given month; you just need to know where to look!

Day 4

Fully day in Serengeti national park

Fully-day wildlife viewing in Serengeti National Park: Head out for an early morning game drive to spot several wildlife species that arise in the morning to feed and the nocturnal mammals that are seen returning to their hiding places. After the morning game drive, return to your lodge for breakfast then return for a full-day excursion in the park with a packed lunch box. You will spend time observing the oldest ecosystem of the park which thrills with endless plains with woodland, hills, rocks, and rivers that all bring out the uniqueness of this magnificent park in Tanzania. After fully exploring the plains of Serengeti National Park, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. (You have an optional hot air balloon safari).

Day 5

Central Serengeti to North Serengeti

As the sun rises over the Central Serengeti, bid farewell to this captivating region and set your compass northward toward the equally enchanting landscapes of the North Serengeti National Park to View River Crossing Migrations. The journey itself is a safari, offering glimpses of wildlife along the way. As you transition from one area to another, notice the subtle shifts in terrain and vegetation, a prelude to the unique experiences that await you.

Day 6

Full Day in North Serengeti National Park

Spend a full day exploring the captivating landscapes of North Serengeti National Park. Set out on early morning and late afternoon game drives to witness the thrilling scenes of the Wildebeest Migration River Crossing. Marvel at the determination and bravery of wildebeest as they navigate crocodile-infested waters. Encounter other wildlife, including lions, leopards, and elephants, in this pristine wilderness. Take in the vast savannas and stunning vistas, capturing the essence of the untamed Serengeti. As the sun sets, return to your campsite or lodge, reflecting on the day's exhilarating encounters and anticipating the adventures that lie ahead.

Day 7

Full Day in North Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we will proceed for a full-day game drive viewing the great migration at the Mara area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in the Wagakuria area. The key feature is the Mara River and there is a great chance to see the herds cross the Mara River to the north on one day and back south a few days later. Please note that it can be very difficult to witness crossing and is sometimes a matter of luck. A herd can be seen next to the river and only decides to cross a couple of days later. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Day 8

Northern Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Leave the captivating landscapes of North Serengeti National Park behind as you embark on a journey to Ngorongoro Crater. Witness the seamless transition from the endless savannas of the Serengeti to the awe-inspiring caldera of Ngorongoro. Arrive at the crater rim and settle into your accommodation, surrounded by panoramic views. Prepare for an unforgettable game drive on the crater floor tomorrow, where you'll encounter a diverse range of wildlife in this natural wonder.

Day 9

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha/Moshi

Embark on an early morning game drive within the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Witness a thriving ecosystem as you encounter diverse wildlife, including rhinos, lions, and various bird species, all framed by the crater's dramatic walls. After this enriching experience, begin your journey back to Arusha. As you traverse the landscapes one final time, reflect on the incredible safari memories you've collected. Arrive in Arusha, where your unforgettable wildlife adventure concludes, leaving you with cherished tales of the Tanzanian wilderness.

Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park can be reached by means of an easy 60-minute drive north west from Moshi. Despite of closeness of this National Park to Arusha, this National Park is probably one of the least visited, making it a wonderful and rewarding off-the beaten-track excursion. Covering 137 sq km, the Arusha National Park has three major attractions which can all be visited in the course of a day outing.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is probably the mostly visited of the northern Tanzanian game parks, and retains a real air of undiscovered Africa, particular in the south of the park. Much of the park is grassland together with swamp lands and flood plains, which feed the Tarangire River. Large baobab trees, particularly in the northern section of the park, stand dotted across the landscape dominating the scenery. Many of the trees are hundreds of years old. Elsewhere there is acacia woodland, open bush and groves of palm trees.

Lake Manyara National Park

Covering about 330km², of which about two-thirds is underwater, Lake Manyara National Park is small by African standards. However, it’s also very beautiful and contains a tremendous diversity of habitats and wildlife. Set beneath the spectacular backdrop of the Great Rift Valley’s steep western escarpment, this long, narrow park protects an area between the escarpment and Lake Manyara.

Ngorongoro Crater

The  Ngorongoro conservation area covers 2286sq km and encompasses the volcanic area around the Ngorongoro crater including the still active Oldonyo Lengai, and the famous Olduvai Gorge. The Ngorongoro conservation area is quite simply the most spectacular tourist destination in Africa unequaled in its magnificence its wild life and its atmosphere.Added to the beautiful scenery, the archaeological wealth and the wildlife, is a proud people – the massai- a pastoral tribe.

Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti National Park has probably been the subject of more books, television documentaries, pictures, photos and digital images on African wildlife animals, than any other African national park. Hosting the annual wildebeest migration across its grassy plains – arguably the world’s greatest wildlife animals spectacle – this park is without a doubt a defining image of East Africa and more specifically Tanzania.

A fabulous Safari! We went on a 6 day safari with Ray in Jan 2023. Ray is a very friendly young man with a great sense of humour. He is an experienced and knowledgeable guide with a keen eye for spotting elusive wildlife; he is a skilllful driver. He made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and had plenty of time to view and take pictures of the animals. He was accompanied by a chef, Victor, who prepared delicious Tanzanian meals, including a hot lunch. We certainly recommend Ray and Awe Safaris. Virginia O'Brien and Bob Audet

Almost there... Almost there... words, words I will never forget. Kili was my dream and after those words, I overcame it with the help of AWE Safari. it was hard and at the same time mental rest from the worries of everyday life. For the rest of my life I will remember that experience and thank Peter, Ino, Majka and of course Ray for organizing and finishing my dream to the end.

Inside knowledge pays off when you travel this far We did the 5-day camping tour including Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro. It took us ages to find the operator we wanted to go with. Firstly, because this kind of activity is expensive in Tanzania (the National Parks take a huge chunk of money), secondly because there are so many fake and frankly strange reviews that give little info and, thirdly because the Covid pandemic meant a wildly reduced offering. It is very difficult to imagine what you will really experience on a safari when you have never done one before and all the offers look similar. A lot of operators don’t have proper websites, which is a worry when you try to book. Here is what we luckily found out: Unless you have very specific needs regarding accommodation, tent and foods, the experience of the guide makes the difference between amazing experience, value for money and “ok”. With Ray we had a once-in-lifetime!!! And I will come back to Tansania to have a safari with him again, and I will continue to recommend him to friends and colleagues. The trick on a safari is to know where to go and when to have the best chance of seeing an animal before all the other guides find it. Inevitably, most of the cars in each park will converge on a spot. But if you have a guide like Ray you will have five or ten minutes to yourself before that happens. And this is what sets apart an experienced guide from a novice. The novice (or perhaps the lazy guides) can follow the other cars and their clients will end up seeing the same animals. But no money in the world can weigh up observing a heard of elephants or a mother lioness with her cubs in total calm with nobody else around. No chatter, no screaming children, no posing for pictures just watching. I must stress that this is also dependent on luck. And you will need a lot of it. You never know what you see on any given day. We saw absolutely everything Serengeti had to give. It was just nice. To close my review I will say that a good guide is kind to his clients, kind to all the other workers and kind to the animals. Ray is all of this. So big thumbs up. And hope to be back in Tansania soon!!!
