Kilimanjaro Climb - 6 Days Machame Route

Kilimanjaro Climb - 7 Days Marangu Route


The Coca Cola Route

Marangu is a term derived from the native Chagga language and the direct translation is “full of water”. This description corresponds with the luscious, green pastures and beautiful landscapes accordingly. The Marangu Route is highly frequented and it is the oldest route travelled. The Marangu Route is said to be the easiest way to the summit – it ascends gradually which allows for a generally effortless trek. It is the only route that approaches the Kilimanjaro from the southeast. The required time needed to complete the hike is 5 days experts recommend a 6th day for extra acclimatisation on the mountain. The accommodation sets this route apart from the others as there are dormitory style sleeping huts.

Kilimanjaro Climb - 5 Days Marangu Route


Kilimanjaro Marangu route it is known as “Coca-Cola” route or “tourist route” this is because Marangu is the most common route on the mountain and thus is considered popular touristy and because is the only route that provide sleeping huts.Marangu approaching Kilimanjaro from the southeast is known to be the oldest established route to its summit. For its scenic view, easy accessibility and higher success rate, most of the hikers give their first choice to this route. The minimum days required for this route is five, although the probability of successfully reaching the top in that time is a bit low. This is why it is always recommended to take an extra day to summit it. This really maximizes the success rate. The credit of its popularity goes to its huts on the way meant for the rest and the overnight stay.

Kilimanjaro Climb via 7 Days Rongai Route


Rongai route begins in the northern side of Kilimanjaro Mountain, 45km from Moshi town or 69km from Arusha. Rongai is stated to be one of the most beautiful routes that start from the Northern side, In comparison to others this is the easiest route and its popularity has been increasing tremendously over the years. The route host a variety of spectacular landscapes together with different plants and animal’s species which make it one of the best sought after route of the Northern side. The typical duration for this trip is 6 days. But mostly the hikers prefer to take one day more, i.e., the 7 days to make the success rate higher. Rongai is scenically more beautiful than that of Marangu, and the difference is that when Marangu offers the hut facilities, the Rongai offers the tents to rest and make the overnight stay. At the end of each day you would find your tents pitched by the porters.

This route starts on the north side of the mountain just south of the Kenyan border and is one of the least traveled routes. The route merges with the Marangu for the summit climb. The descend follows the Marangu route on the mountain’s southeast side, so you will be able to Kilimanjaro from many points. There are two versions of this trek- a direct 6 day itinerary and a 7 day itinerary that takes a longer route. You can choose to attempt the summit via Mawezi Tarn Hut or via School Hut which is also referred to as the Outward Bound Hut. The former is longer and more popular. Prior acclimatization is suggested in order to attempt the latter successfully.

Kilimanjaro Climb Via Rongai Route


Rongai route located eastern side of the mountain and it begins just south of the Kenya-Tanzania border through farmland and forest to several other climate zones, adding interest to the trek. There are magnificent views over the Kenyan Plains and genuine possibilities for wildlife viewing. This route normally takes 6 days or 7 days depend with your time and budget, but all option guaranteed success summit.
